As you are optimizing your top pages, if you have an existing website, you may come across older products and collections that are no longer available on your website, but still receive traffic or appear in search results. You may want to redirect these pages to updated or current products in order to direct visitors to products they can buy as opposed to a page not found or other unneeded page.
Fortunately, Shopify makes it easy to do this. In these cases, you can go to your Online Store’s Navigation and click on the URL Redirects link at the top of the page.
On the following screen, you can review all of your current redirected URLs as well as add a new URL redirect by clicking the Add URL Redirect button at the top right. Then, you will configure the old URL to redirect to the new URL.
In the above example, anyone who clicks on a link to the 2016 Collection will automatically be taken to the 2017 Collection. Your visitors will now be automatically taken to the newest sales and products, and therefore be more likely to convert over a visitor that has to navigate from an old page to a newer one.
